R. Spencer Lauterbach, Esq.

r spencer lauterbach

Mr. Lauterbach was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1966. After graduating Clarkstown North High School in 1984, he went on to graduate from SUNY Albany in 1988 and Delaware Law School in 1992.

After being admitted to practice law in 1993, Spencer Lauterbach began as a sole practitioner of law in the same year, taking on a wide variety legal matters for a tight knit group of his clients. From the beginning, Spencer has preferred to serve a small group of clients, thereby allowing him to get to know them individually so he could better accomplish their goals. This is the “boutique” concept of the Lauterbach Law Firm.

While his practice has become somewhat more focused through time, he still considers himself a general practitioner of law. He handles cases involving all aspects of real estate, from real estate closings and landlord/tenant matters to real estate litigation and lease drafting. Since the burst of the real estate “bubble” in 2005, Mr. Lauterbach has become an adept practitioner in the field of distressed real estate, which includes defending clients against foreclosure and assisting with mortgage modifications and short sales.

Spencer’s practice also includes estate law, whereby he drafts wills and trusts, and probates estates for his clients. General business law is also a cornerstone of the practice, wherein he serves all manner of his clients’ business needs, from contract negotiation to dispute resolution.

Upon the addition of Spencer’s wife and partner, Kathryn E. Lauterbach, Esq. to the firm in 2014, the practice became known as “The Lauterbach Law Firm.”

Mr. Lauterbach is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Rockland County Bar Association. He has consistently served his community as a member of several public service organizations, including Keep Rockland Beautiful, upon which he has served as a member of the board of directors since 2008. He is a past commissioner of the Rockland Lake Fire District and is currently a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks (B.P.O.E)-Haverstraw Chapter.
